Description:
Position Summary:
The Accountant performs day to day financial processing to support the overall business and strategic direction of the organization.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Prepare and enter daily revenue reports
Maintain financial records in QuickBooks
Enter daily, weekly, and monthly financial statistical data & reporting
Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable
Perform reconciliation of the Museum bank accounts and credit card accounts
Deliver donation deposits to associated banks
Process monthly payroll and quarterly reports
Process sales tax monthly and annually
Assist in preparation of monthly finance reports
Board and Finance Committee meeting prep
Annual accounts payable 1099/1096 reporting
Assist with annual year-end closing, audit, and 990 reporting
Research financial transactions and report on findings
Special event financial tracking
Reconcile sponsorship/pledge/grant payments in the donation data base with QuickBooks
Troubleshoot and support meeting setup
Issue key cards
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Requirements:
Position Requirements:
High attention to detail
Experience using QuickBooks Accounting software
Knowledge of Donor Perfect and Paylocity software preferred
Proficient at developing, using, and analyzing Excel spreadsheets
Knowledge and ability to learn and utilize various types of computer software
Ability to maintain confidentiality of Museum information
Problem solving skills dealing with issues of monthly financial statement preparation and bank reconciliations
Ability to stay organized, prioritize and manage a busy schedule
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects on a consistent basis
Ability to work special events after hours
Knowledge of non-profit accounting preferred

Transportation, valid driver's license and insurance as prescribed by ICM policy, preferred
Education and/or Experience:
Associate degree in Accounting, BA degree preferred or equivalent experience
3-5+ years’ experience working in accounting/finance
